چکیده

We present a novel algorithm for collision detection between two discretely oriented polytopes (k-DOPs). It is an application of the well known Separating Axes Test to k-DOPs and is implemented in fixed-point arithmetic. Hence, it lends itself very well to hardware implementation. In this report we focus on the derivation of the algorithm and an error-bound on the rounding-error produced by the fixedpoint calculation. Besides controlling the resulting error it gives formal proof that no false negatives are produced.

Hardware-Accelerated Collision Detection using Bounded-Error Fixed-Point Arithmetic

A novel approach for highly space-efficient hardware-accelerated collision detection is presented. This paper focuses on the architecture to traverse bounding volume hierarchies in hardware. It is based on a novel algorithm for testing discretely oriented polytopes (DOPs) for overlap, utilizing only fixed-point (i.e., integer) arithmetic. We derive a bound on the deviation from the mathematical...

Efficient Collision Detection Using Bounding Volume Hierarchies of k-DOPs

Collision detection is of paramount importance for many applications in computer graphics and visualization. Typically, the input to a collision detection algorithm is a large number of geometric objects comprising an environment, together with a set of objects moving within the environment. In addition to determining accurately the contacts that occur between pairs of objects, one needs also t...

Convergence Theorems for a Common Fixed Point of a Finite Family of Nonself Nonexpansive Mappings

Let K be a nonempty closed convex subset of a reflexive real Banach space E which has a uniformly Gâteaux differentiable norm. Assume that K is a sunny nonexpansive retract of E with Q as the sunny nonexpansive retraction. Let Ti : K → E, i = 1, . . . ,r, be a family of nonexpansive mappings which are weakly inward. Assume that every nonempty closed bounded convex subset of K has the fixed poin...

Implementation and performance of parallellised turbo decoders

In this paper, we discuss the implementation of a low latency decoding algorithm for turbo codes and repeat accumulate codes and compare the implementation results in terms of maximum available clock speed, resource consumption, error correction performance, and the data (information bit) rate. In order to decrease the latency a parallellised decoder structure is introduced for these mentioned ...
